Dena Prastos, AIA, NCARB, WEDG, is an Architect, engineer, futurist, and creative original. With transdisciplinary and progressive views, she is inspired by the overlapping of design, technology, and nature.
Born and raised in Alaska, Dena’s deep-rooted appreciation for nature and mankind’s ability to create infrastructure in some of the world’s toughest conditions ultimately informed her passion for sustainability and resiliency. Dena has lead projects around the world managing heavy civil construction, marine engineering, and the design of waterfront architecture. These unique experiences helped shape Dena’s vision, competency, and progressive views to ultimately launch her practice. Indigo River, a certified woman-owned business enterprise (WBE), specializes in creative and practical design solutions at the water’s edge. In a time faced with the inconvenient truths of climate change, sea level rise, and hyper-urbanization, Dena’s global background and unique expertise has given her the tools necessary to navigate a diverse portfolio of littoral projects.
Dena Prastos is a licensed Architect with over 12 years of experience. She holds a graduate degree in Civil Engineering and has successfully completed Harvard Business School’s “Leading Professional Service Firms” Executive Education program. She currently serves on several Advisory Boards, including Coastal Risk Consulting, One15 Brooklyn Marina, and Le Gourmet Factory. Dena resides in New York with her husband, Nick, where they enjoy playing tennis, sailing the Hudson, and restoring their 160-year-old riverfront home.
